When aftermarket is the better choice

An aftermarket part is not automatically worse or better than the original. It is another engineer answering the same question.

• Durability: race parts are often made from tougher material than the series item.
• Weight: aluminium and titanium solutions cut mass.
• Cost: for wear items aftermarket is often the better value.

Check model and year compatibility before buying. Replace wear parts such as sprockets and chain as a set so they wear evenly.
