Reading tyre markings
A marking such as 90/90-21 54R tells you the width in millimetres, the profile as a percentage of that width, the rim diameter in inches, then the load index and speed rating. Match these to your bike's manual rather than to looks.
- Road: continuous tread for grip and mileage on tarmac, including in the wet.
- Enduro: a dual purpose compromise, road legal with real traction off road.
- Motocross: tall, spaced knobs for soft, hard or intermediate terrain, for closed course use.
Tubes and fitting
Most off road wheels still run tubes, and a heavy duty tube resists pinch flats at lower pressures. Replace tubes together with the tyre. Our Riga workshop handles fitting and balancing.
